Text Box: Dearly Beloved, The morning news reports attacks between Israeli and Palestinians, troops and tensions are building up between Pakistan and India. The concept of Pre-emptive War is now being expanded by United States Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates to include the use of nuclear attacks. The following words from David C. Pack, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, “The Real Truth” Magazine, ring true: “While men have created many amazing technological inventions, they cannot “create” peace. Scientists have unleashed the power of the atom but are powerless to “unleash” peace upon earth. Astronomers have discovered much about the size, majesty and precision of the universe, but they cannot “discover” the way to peace. They can find galaxies far away throughout the universe, but they cannot “find” peace here on earth.” A quote by Georges Clemenceau, the French statesman during WWI, accurately reflects this state of affairs: “I don’t know whether war is an interlude during peace, or peace is an interlude during war.” With the joy of the Heavenly Hosts still ringing in our ears, “… and on earth peace…,” we now begin a New Year, 2009. It seems in the face of all this that the usual New Year’s Resolutions are trite indeed. I pray that our resolve for the New Year is deep and determined to repent and above all allegiances become citizens of the Kingdom of God and servants of the Prince of Peace.
